Terms of Service

Last updated 7 October 2026

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Bjorn-Donald Bassey, the maker of BP Diary (“we”, “us”), and apply when you use the BP Diary app and website. By creating an account or using BP Diary, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use BP Diary.

2. What BP Diary does

BP Diary lets you record blood pressure and pulse readings that you take with your own monitor, see averages and trends, follow a guide to measuring, and export reports. Your readings are stored on your phone. BP Diary does not connect to or control any monitor.

3. Not medical advice

BP Diary is a record-keeping tool. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, monitor, treat or prevent any condition. Nothing in the app or on this website is medical advice, and it is no substitute for advice from a doctor or other healthcare professional. Always talk to one about your blood pressure, your readings and any treatment. Don't start, stop or change medication because of anything in BP Diary. If you feel unwell or think you may have a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately.

The measuring guide and articles summarise published guidance from sources such as the American Heart Association, the European Society of Hypertension and the NHS, and cite them. That guidance can change, and it may not suit your circumstances.

4. Accuracy

Averages, trends and reports are only as accurate as the readings you enter and the monitor you use. Readings can be mistyped and monitors can be wrong. Check important numbers against your monitor, and rely on your healthcare professional's measurements for decisions about your care.

5. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • Give accurate information and keep your password safe.
  • Only record your own readings, or readings you have permission to record.
  • You are responsible for activity on your account.

6. Acceptable use

Don't misuse BP Diary. That includes trying to access other people's data, interfering with or overloading our servers, reverse engineering the service to attack it, or using BP Diary for anything unlawful.

7. Your data

Your readings are stored on your device and belong to you. Because we never hold a copy, we can't restore them if your phone is lost or the app is deleted, so export a copy if you want a backup. How we handle the limited data on our servers is described in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

8. Third-party services

BP Diary works with services we don't control, including Apple and Google (the app stores) and the email apps you use to send reports. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms.

9. Our intellectual property

The BP Diary app, website, name and logo belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, sell, rent or redistribute the app.

10. Changes to BP Diary

We may change, add or remove features, and we may suspend the service for maintenance. We'll try to give notice of significant changes.

11. Ending your use

You can stop using BP Diary and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. The sections on accuracy, intellectual property and liability continue to apply after your account ends.

12. Disclaimers and liability

BP Diary is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties that it will be error-free or uninterrupted. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost readings, or for losses caused by inaccurate data or by health decisions made without a healthcare professional. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Nigerian consumer protection law, including the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act.

13. Apple App Store

If you downloaded BP Diary from the Apple App Store:

  • These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for BP Diary and its content.
  • Your licence to use BP Diary is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for BP Diary.
  • If BP Diary fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any). To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for BP Diary.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims relating to BP Diary, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection or privacy claims, and claims that it infringes someone's intellectual property.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. If you keep using BP Diary after a change, you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
