Measuring guide

Measure the right way, every time.

Home readings depend on how you take them. An 8-step guide with diagrams walks you through a reliable reading.

  1. 01

    Prepare

For 30 minutes before, avoid caffeine, smoking and exercise. Empty your bladder first.

  2. 02

    Sit and rest

Back supported, feet flat, arm resting on a table at heart level. A timer counts your 5 minutes of rest.

  3. 03

    Fit the cuff

On your bare upper arm, its lower edge 2–3 cm above the bend of your elbow. Diagrams show you how.

  4. 04

    Two readings

Take two readings at least a minute apart. BP Diary saves both and works out the average.

Every step cites published guidance from the American Heart Association (2019), the European Society of Hypertension (2021) and the NHS. Tap the small numbers in the app to see the sources.

Private by design

Your readings never leave your phone.

Health data is personal. BP Diary was built so that we couldn't see your blood pressure even if we wanted to. Our server handles your account and nothing else.

Read the privacy policy
  • Readings stay on your phone

Every reading is stored in a database on your device. None are ever uploaded to our servers.

  • Our server only knows your account

Your name, email address and a hashed password, for signing in. Nothing about your health.

  • You choose who sees a report

Exports go out through your own email or share sheet, only when you send them.

  • Delete means delete

Deleting your account erases it from our server and wipes everything BP Diary stored on your phone.
